Frequently Asked Questions

What is the class size?
Classes will have no more than 12 children and their caregiver.

Why are the classes mixed ages?toscani_066
Our goal is to promote music making outside of our class time. Just as a child does not learn how to read from only attending a 45 minute class once a week, a child does not become musical by attending a music class once a week. The important music making happens at home… in the car… at bedtime… all the time! Mixed age classes promote interaction among families, siblings, generations. Becoming “tuneful”, “beatful”, and “artful” takes years to reinforce and master.

Do infants really benefit from music classes?
Yes! Infants are incredibly and beautifully musical – much more than we often notice. Sing a song to your baby, and their next “coo” is often on the tonic or dominant pitch. Listen to music with their baby, and see how they love to dance! Participating in a music class with children of any age can create and enhance a musical bond between parent and child.

What is my role in class, as the attending grown-up?toscani_024
To sing, move, play… and show your children just how much fun making music can be. Your voice and your movements are the most important to your child, and they will see and note your enthusiasm. Resist the urge to move your child’s body for them, for instance while playing on a drum… instead, play on the drum yourself! Some children may be on “record” instead of “play” during class, and that is perfectly fine. Children are welcome to walk around the room or watch from a distance.

What is the refund policy?
Refunds are not available after the first class. There is a $10 non-refundable administration fee (included in the tuition).

May I bring a guest?
A non-registered sibling or child guest may attend once during the class at no charge (based on availability – please let us know if a guest would like to come). Adult guests and relatives may always attend at no charge.
